Anxiety
I seek a transformation of the mind
My thoughts with God's to be far more aligned.
Anxiety, a drain on me,
I fear impending tragedy
Behind each opportunity.
I'm begging for impunity.
I live each day behind a veil of fear
And to it's list of rules I do adhere.
Rule 1: don't burden others with
Your petty sorrows: they're a myth.
Rule 2: people will always leave,
So when they love you, disbelieve.
Always remember that you are alone.
It's better to be safe than to be known.
Rule 3: all compliments, discard.
Don't let those time bombs by your guard.
Rule 4: destroy your confidence.
No one needs your assertiveness.
Around eternal ferris wheel I go.
I cannot get the dogged thing to slow.
Rule 5: what others say to you
Is always the best thing to do.
Rule 6: your personality
Annoys us all: we all agree.
All bound around with tethers of the mind,
Alone I cannot gnarled cords unbind.
Holy Spirit, free me from
These chains on me, to you I come
With nothing I can offer you.
I cannot pay; my debts accrue.
But you say that real love cannot be earned.
My fear of people must be overturned.
You say that I am worthy too.
I'm trying hard to trust that's true.
You say my happiness depends
On being loved, but not by friends.
You say that I am beautiful and pure.
You're proud of me, your love for me is sure.
You tell me who I am and I,
Come embrace you, and I cry.
I know now what I never knew:
People leave me; never you.
