Not Mine
written to describe a ballet dance for the 2017 performance
Whose voice will I hear?
Not mine.
Whose tongue will share a prophecy?
Whose voice will bare their soul – not me!
Whose lips will sing a song to thee?
Not mine.
Whose feet will go?
Not mine.
Whose toes will point so perfectly?
Not mine – so I won't dance for thee.
Whose arms will sway imperfectly?
Not mine.
Whose love will I receive?
Not mine!
Whose heart will with compassion break
For me? – Not mine! And who will take
My guilt from me, for my mistake?
Not mine.
My fear, it has protected me.
My pride is my best company.
But guilt has got a hold of me.
For that, I must be free.
