I Didn't Admit Defeat
I didn't admit Defeat,
He swept right through my door.
I stood and curtly asked to know
Just what he came here for.
He replied with shaded eyes
That it was not his task,
To inform me why he came –
Nor was I smart to ask.
His only mission was to show
His own disgruntled face.
I bid him never come again
And sent him in disgrace.
But when he'd left I noticed there –
A letter on my bed!
I sat upon my quilt to see –
And this is what I read:
"Open not Pandora's Box
And it won't open you.
And yet, for he who does not dare,
What dream could still come true?"
He swept right through my door.
I stood and curtly asked to know
Just what he came here for.
He replied with shaded eyes
That it was not his task,
To inform me why he came –
Nor was I smart to ask.
His only mission was to show
