Applause
Applause echoes between the walls,
Fans cheer for third and forth recalls,
They sing my name as glitter falls,
But it matters not.
One voice speaks like a ray of sun,
The inner ear and heart hears one,
It softly says to me, "Well done."
That's all that matters.
When all applause has died away,
And once plum seats are dusty-gray,
When silence reigns, and my fans stray,
It will not matter.
Life's for an Audience of One,
Applause from Him can't be outdone.
And when I die, I'll have begun,
What really matters.
Fans cheer for third and forth recalls,
They sing my name as glitter falls,
But it matters not.
One voice speaks like a ray of sun,
The inner ear and heart hears one,
It softly says to me, "Well done."
That's all that matters.
When all applause has died away,
And once plum seats are dusty-gray,
When silence reigns, and my fans stray,
It will not matter.
Life's for an Audience of One,
Applause from Him can't be outdone.
And when I die, I'll have begun,
What really matters.
